The question is asked more and more each day that passes after the death of this young superstar. Who is or was Elvis Manuel and how did he die? Elvis Manuel was a 18yr old talented boy from Cuba. His dreams were to be free so his music could be celebrated by the world. Living in Cuba where it is a dictatorship country ran by Fidel Castro, there is no such thing as freedom of speech with out consequences.
Elvis Manuel had different styles of rapping/singing. At first he rapped and sang about his surroundings and his experience living in Cuba. Immediately his music was banned from radio stations and he was denied jobs. It made it tuff for this young superstar to work and help provide for his family. He needed a way out and he needed to follow his dream quick.
His style of music changed and he started singing songs that made the crowed dance and feel good similar to reggeaton. Reggeaton was originated in Puerto Rico and has caught on all around the world. The music is hot, sexy and makes you want to shake shake shake with swag. Cubans loved it and developed a new style called Cubanton, which originated in Santiago de Cuba. Elvis Manuel caught on to Cubaton and the rest is history from there.
A few of Elivs Manuels Cubaton hits are called: La Tuba, Esa Mulata, and Esa Mujer. These songs def caught the attention of other artist and producers in the United States. This 18yr old boy had everyone moving and quick. He was approched by a few producers and was granted the opportunty to flea Cuba on an illegal escape on boat along with 18 others. At last his dream will come true, so we all thought.
Elvis Manuel along with his mother and 17 others boarded a 25 foot boat and departed Cuba and headed towards Miami FL. Elvis Manuel not only had his mother and his dreams with him but he also carried a heavy bookbag on his back filled with his religous saints he could not leave back. 3 hours into the smuggling oppertation the weather and the story took a turn for the worst. The sea became choppy and ruff bringing in lots of water into the boat causing the engines to fail. Everyone began taking turns bailing water.
It was Elvis Manuels turn to bail water from the back when someone on the boat open a lach causing water more water to enter the boat rapidly. The waves were to ruff and the boat had to much water causing it to flip and chucking all passengers into the ocean. Elvis Manuel’s mother heard Elvis scream “mami, mami” and those were the last words she heard from her son. 3 other passengers went missing at sea and the other 14 passenger hung on to the boat for days eating wet crackers untill they were rescued. Unfortunatley they were all sent back to Cuba including Elvis Manuels Mother.
Could it have been Elvis Destiny to get lost at sea? Could he have still been alive if he wasn’t carrying a heavy bookbag full of saints? is it wrong for the rest of the survivors to be sent back to Cuba? Lots of questions still arise and remain unsolved.
Lots of people risk their lives every day in hopes of having what we have in this country, which is called freedom. We complain about the economy and other luxury’s that most of the world lacks. We are all free spirits and should be proud and honored to be living in the society we live in. May Elvis Manuel always live in our souls and may his music remain being heard. Appreciate what you have because others are dieing for it!
Much Luv 2 ALL!!!!
